Youth will practice twice per week, either Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays. They will also be placed on teams and participate in a series of track and field meets conducted on Saturdays at the LHS track over the course of the season. There will also be one or more away meets. Participants will be exposed to a variety of track and field events including sprints, middle distance runs (up to one mile), shot put, javelin, discus, long jump, and hurdles. Emphasis will be placed on skill development, physical fitness, and individual improvement over the course of the season. Parents will be expected to assist with timing at one track meet during the season. Parents who have a background in track and field or running and wish to coach, or can help out in a non-coaching role are encouraged to indicate their interest when registering their child. Track program will not meet during April vacation. Program dates are subject to change due to the High School schedule.
