New swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted. We will be evaluating all new swimmers the first few nights to ensure they can safely participate in practice. We will be conducting stroke-specific clinics for the initial weeks of practice to give everyone a solid foundation upon which to build skill and strength.
All swimmers will be expected to participate in 2 swim meets. Practice will be offered 4 days per week and we understand that many athletes compete in multiple sports and have other activities. Swimmers will benefit most from at least 2 days of practice per week.

The Longmeadow Softball Association (LSA) is a member of Little League District 2, and offers the opportunity for girls in Grades 1 through 8 to participate in a program designed to teach the game of softball in a fun environment and eventually progress to an increasingly structured and competitive setting.
Grades 1 & 2 For children in Grades 1 and 2, the program focuses on basic skill development and incorporates 1 game per week with surrounding towns for 6-8 weeks.
Grades 3 - 8
Beyond Grade 2, all girls who wish to play must attend evaluations in March; all girls are placed on a team based on their skill level and age eligibility for 10U, 12U or 14U travel teams. Games are scheduled 1-2 times per week in Longmeadow and local communities for a total of 12-15 games per season. Team practices start at the end of April with regular season play and end with playoffs for those teams that are eligible at the end of June. We aim for team sizes of 12-13 players. Games are structured with umpires and forfeit rules, so player attendance is critical. Once rosters are submitted to the league in mid-April, additional players cannot be added, no exceptions.

The Longmeadow Youth Basketball Association (LYBA) is a non-profit, volunteer organization committed to providing every child an opportunity to learn the game, improve their basketball skills, and play in games that are safe and fun. Our programs serve children in Grade 1-8. LYBA offers two distinct programs:
A Recreation program for boys and girls in Grades 1-8, in which everyone makes the team. In Grades 1 & 2 the program is primarily instructional in nature. Specifically, during each one-hour Saturday morning session, participating children receive 30 minutes of basic basketball fundamentals (e.g. dribbling, passing, shooting), followed by a thirty (30) minute scrimmage vs. another 1st-2nd grade team. In 3rd through 8th grade, each team has one practice and one game per week with an official referee at each game. LYBA also offers an optional Travel Program for Boys-Grades 5-8 and Girls Grades 5-8. Travel teams are generally more competitive in nature and require a greater time commitment. Longmeadow teams play in the Suburban League against Travel Teams from surrounding communities. There is an additional player fee & uniform deposit in addition to the standard LYBA registration fee. Travel team players are selected through a tryout process in which LYBA utilizes independent evaluators.
