Crayola Imagine Arts Academy (Art-ventures for Kids), Grades K-5
Join us for Crayola Imagine Arts Academy, formerly ART-ventures for Kids. Same great instructors, new, innovative programs now in collaboration with Crayola - designed as "Art With Purpose". Crayola Imagine Arts Academy believes that artistic enrichment is a crucial element of a great education! When children learn to appreciate form and color, when they grasp the importance of fashioning their own images of the world around them, they gain greater self-confidence and self-discipline. With our imaginative curricula and inspiring instructors, we encourage creative spirits and imaginations. We nurture creativity and the process of critical thinking, as children experience a variety of art techniques, tools, and original materials. We inspire children to interpret art in their own unique way as they explore artist's styles, art forms, culture and history. We are also very serious about having fun with art!

Mad Science, Grades K-5*
Mad Science of Western New England is the leading science enrichment provider in the region. Since 1998, we have delivered unique, hands-on science experiences for children through after-school programs, birthday parties, in-school and on-site kids' workshops, summer programming and special events such as stage shows and hands-on discovery centers. We provide our unique "edutainment" in Western and Central MA, Northern CT and Southern VT & NH. Our mission is to inspire children through science, sparking lifelong imagination and curiosity.

Craft wacky Cubist Costumes inspired by Picasso, draw very unique self-portraits, and design sparkling Fabric Wall Hangings. Creatively educational, whimsical and unconventional, these art-ventures welcome children into a world of artistic wonder. Children bring home beautiful masterpieces each week, sure to transform any home into a gallery!

SCHOOL VACATION WEEK ACTIVITIES:
Science of Toys with Fantastic Fliers - Monday, December 29th
Science of Toys: Children are introduced to the science of toys through toy-themed centers. Both familiar and novel gadgets are investigated. They discover how motors make toys move and play with tops to learn about potential and kinetic energy. Balancing toys are used to familiarize children with the center of gravity. They find out that opposite poles attract each other when experimenting with magnetic toys.
Fantastic Fliers: Fantastic Fliers is an ideal combination of practical and theoretical knowledge, and the perfect introduction to the basics of aerodynamics. Students will learn about the four forces which affect a plane in flight: drag, gravity, lift and forward thrust; and they will witness, experience, play with, and use these forces to their advantage in the construction of incredible paper planes!

Cupcakes and Pizza Party Art-ventures - Tuesday, December 30th
Get ready to whip up some artsy treats that look almost yummy enough to eat! Paint colorful ceramic cupcake banks and sculpt clay pizzas with all your favorite toppings! Plus, design and decorate chef hats to wear in your own crafty kitchen!

Alien Art-vasion - Tuesday, February 17th
Young art-stronauts shoot for the stars in this outer space art-venture program! Sculpt wacky aliens with Model Magic clay, and build UFOs for them to fly around in. Learn about symmetry while creating alien drawings based on the letters of your name. Then get a little messy concocting glittery galaxy play dough!

Radical Robots with ET Phone Home - Wednesday, February 18th
Radical Robots: reinforces the concept that science and technology go hand in hand. Children discover how robots work in our place and are introduced to several real-life examples such as the Canadarm. Children move through learning centers to test and differentiate between robots, automatons, and remote-control devices. They learn how robotic devices use sensors to learn about their environment.
ET Phone Home: Inventors Bell, Edison and Tesla were locked in several battles over electrical inventions of their era. Children work together to form circuits and learn about parallel and series circuits while having fun and creating different snap circuit creations.
